The Neary Group participated in a high school tour/demo with the Rovas Danelius and Mann Group to get students excited about chemistry! The tour consisted of a student led panel, mini lectures, and many demos led by students. Our lab introduced the importance of plastics to the students and demonstrated their synthesis via frontal ring opening metathesis polymerization (FROMP) to produce bullet-proof material. We also demonstrated how reactions can be carried out through multiple stimuli including light, heat, and force with a spiropyran infused PDMS mold.
